Contentment is one word that a person seldom has. You can probably be happy and still want for more. As per what Ive learned in school, the human being is born with
insatiable needs. May it be basic, physical, emotional, spritual, financial, intellectual or social aid, everyone has this burning passion of seeking what lacks their lives.
I dont quite blame the nature of being human. It is indeed necessary to venture for more. Most of the time, it is the essence of living. To continuously search for something that will make you smile. It may be the simplest in form. Like an answer to a crossword puzzle that made your morning and completed your breakfast. Or as big as aiming for that european vacation or a cruise to the carribean. I know a lot of people who has lost the zest of their lives after their kids left their wings. A wife who devoted her life to her family and was left by her husband to another girl. A husband who was taken for granted after decades of bringing home food to the table. And they often wonder what steps were not taken to still end up feeling empty. Fact is: life is a never-ending search for happiness. You need to sustain that bliss in your heart for you to be able to find content in your life. You must embellish your life with little or big things that make sense to you. You must look forward to something so it drives you to achieve something more. It makes you busy. It makes your sugar rush. It stimulates your brain to produce endorphins necessary for experiencing a sense of well being.
To be contented is to assume a state of achievement like getting that much-awaited promotion, finishing the decorations of your christmas tree, recieving your diploma, relaxing on a white-sand. It is not stricted to having enough money in your pockets nor getting something grandiose. It is knowing that what makes you happy in a daily basis is workable if not within your reach.
